Everyone really stepped up to face the dangerous and nasty weather conditions in what has to be the soggiest Ironman race ever – it rained hard for 14 hours non-stop! Congratulations to everyone on a safe and speedy race!

Once they thawed out they dealt with a very hilly course and extremely windy conditions on the bike. They certainly earned their Ironman stripes. June 15, 2008 - Report from World Championships: While everyone was suffering through an early summer heat wave at home, Matt Long and Coach Kathleen were shivering at the ITU World Championship Triathlon in Vancouver, Canada. They faced unseasonably cold 55 F water and 50 F air temperatures coupled with consistent drizzle. The 1.5k swim was shortened to 1k due to the cold water. Things became even more trying on race day when winds kicked up 5-8 ft. swells later in the morning which resulted in the swim portion of the race being cancelled after Coach Kathleen's wave swam! The swim was replaced with a 3k run turning the triathlon into a 3k-40k-10k duathlon for all the men and older women. Matt really stepped up to the challenge and finished 4th 20-24M, just missing the 3rd place podium spot by 12 seconds. Amazing performance! Coach Kathleen finished 22nd 45-49F.

Thank You! Coach Kathleen thanks the many TriSuccess athletes who volunteered at the Du Run Run Duathlon: Maureen Sanderson, Marne McLyman, Ryan McKinney, Cindy McCloskey, Rebecca Villers and Kris, Howard Newsom, Liz Wilson and Mike Betts for the use of his truck and tents. Congratulations also to Johanna Gartman for her first overall win at the Scenic City Triathlon and to Jon Hume for a strong finish in his first triathlon also at Scenic City last weekend.

April 2008 - Congratulations to Matt Long who took bronze in the under grad division at USAT Collegiate National Championships last weekend in Tuscaloosa, AL. Matt followed that podium finish with a fifth place overall the following day in the 2012 Talent ID race which was a draft legal format.

She is taking the opportunity to visit with her good friend Peggy who is a resident of Santa Monica and a multi-time finisher of the Hawaii Ironman in the women's 60-64 and 65-69 age groups.
